A little bit candid. A little bit editorial. A little bit in the moment. A whole lot of documentation.

It's simple, really. I love photography. I love love. I'm addicted to the energy and chaos and quiet magic of a wedding day, and I'm genuinely, deeply honoured that this is my job. Capturing something so personal, so specific to two particular humans on one particular day? There's nothing else like it.

Weddings - The creativity. The people, the crews, the vendors, the fashion, the food, the wine, The Music & the Couple

I work across digital and film, balancing the polish of digital with the quiet magic of an unknown negative. Whatever I’m shooting, colour, light and timing matter to me. So does the poetry of a moment as it naturally unfolds.

I love love — and I genuinely love being a photographer. My work is shaped by a lifelong obsession with the arts: cinema, theatre, music, fashion. I’m drawn to all of it, and inevitably, it finds its way into the way I see and photograph.

At home, there’s Julian — an artist who works in intricate steel — and our two small humans, who are my centre of gravity. Silliness is non-negotiable.

I grew up in a big, creatively charged family. The music gene mostly skipped me (I still revisit the piano), but my instincts landed behind a lens. Photography is where everything clicks. (Yes, intentional.)

I’ve been photographing weddings since 2018, backed by nearly two decades in events and hospitality — restaurants, bars, wedding venues, music festivals and Adelaide Fringe. That world taught me to read a room, think fast, adapt without fuss and stay calm when things inevitably go sideways.

It also made me exceptionally good at a runsheet.

At heart, I’m a people person. I love the energy, the connection and watching stories unfold in real time.

That’s what I photograph: people, moments and meaning.

And I’d love to hear yours.

It's the candid frame and the gentle direction.
The moments between the moments.
The tears and the laughter.
The quiet details nobody else noticed.

Lucy is a magnificent photographer. Not only because her photos are incredibly natural, thoughtful, and beautiful. But because she is so inconspicuous, relaxed, and creative

Client Love

I’m an Adelaide based photographer who specialises in real life moments. Capturing everything from weddings, family portraits, newborns, commercial events, music and theatre. As well as selling prints from my own personal photography (I hope you like clouds!).

Who is Lucy Partington Photography?

’ve been taking photos since I could hold a camera, and photographing weddings for over ten years, across Adelaide and beyond, in both digital and film. It became my full-time work a few years ago, and I take on a limited number of weddings each year, so every couple gets my full attention, right through to your final gallery. I work best with couples who know what they want and aren’t settling for anything less.

How long have you been doing Photography?

Oh yes – we all do, don’t we? If you’ve come this far I hope it means you’re into my pictures (or you just like read FAQs?!). I shoot as I see - always in the style of documenting. I love doing portraits, I really love engaging with people and making them feel at ease infront of the lens. And I also love to get creative.

What’s your style? Do you have one?

If for any emergency reason I’m unable to attend a wedding (it would only ever be an emergency that could keep me from you!), I have a close support network of accomplished photographers to call on – you won’t be without an amazing photographer!

do you have a backup if for whatever ungodly reason you cant be there

Will I photoshop your face onto a Kardashian body? No.
Will I edit your photos to bring out the absolute magic of the day? Yes.

Photoshop?

A whole lot of fun is what I am!! Ok, seriously… I am the ultimate professional, but I like to keep things light-hearted to make sure that everyone is comfortable and having a good time. Because that is when the gold comes out, and I’m ready and waiting to capture the magic!

What are you like on the day?

Certainly - These are ‘add-ons’ which you can purchase at a later date. All my packages are a base price to start with, then we can tailor these further to suit what you’re looking for, priced accordingly.

Albums?

Documentary style photography is where there is minimal intervention or instruction by the photographer, simply allowing whatever is unfolding to do so and to capture things as they are naturally occurring. Whilst I do give a bit of instruction (and encouragement!), this is how I like to approach my work. I love to capture the raw and truthful moments, and this is when it happens, when it is allowed to.

What do you mean by documentary style of Photography?

I’ve actually lost count... but average 15-20 per year. This is based on what I can currently hold keeping in mind I shoot families, unit stills and some commercial throughout the year. Aside from keeping me sane, it also enables me to give my full attention and concentration to you throughout the process.

How many weddings have you photographed?
