I've been taking photographs professionally for over 10 years. I photographed my first wedding back in 2012, launched my first business, Bottles Photography, in 2014, and rebranded to Lucy Partington Photography in 2019. It's grown slowly and steadily ever since.
I'm an Adelaide-based photographer drawn to real, unscripted moments. Weddings are at the heart of what I do, alongside family portraits, bump and baby sessions, headshots and events. I work across digital and film, and I also sell prints of my personal work (I hope you like clouds!).
My style is candid and documentary at heart, with an editorial edge. Rather than directing your day, I capture it as it unfolds: the people, the energy and the in-between moments. Posing is kept to a minimum, mostly family groups and your couple portraits, where I'll guide you with gentle, natural direction. And if you'd love to get creative, with bold light, a moody frame or something a little unexpected, I'm always up for it.
Every image is carefully edited by me for colour, light and tone, so your gallery feels natural, timeless and true to the day. I'll remove small distractions like a stray exit sign or a blemish, but I don't reshape bodies or change how you look. My aim is for you to look like yourselves on your best day.
If for any emergency reason I’m unable to attend a wedding (it would only ever be an emergency that could keep me from you!), I have a close support network of accomplished photographers to call on – you won’t be without an amazing photographer!
Yes, and I'd love to make one for you. My luxury wedding albums are handmade, printed on smooth matte art paper and finished with a protective slipcase. They're designed around your day so your story is told beautifully in print. Albums can be added when you book or ordered after your gallery is delivered.
Documentary style means capturing your day as it naturally unfolds, with minimal direction from me. Rather than staging moments, I let them happen and photograph them as they are: honest, unscripted and full of feeling. I'll still offer gentle guidance when it helps, especially for portraits and family photos, but most of your gallery will be the real moments, exactly as they happened.
Honestly, I've lost count! These days I take on around 15–20 weddings a year. Keeping my calendar small means every couple gets my full attention, from the first email through to final delivery. Outside of weddings, I also photograph families, film and TV unit stills, and selected commercial work.
Relaxed, friendly and completely across the details. Twenty years in hospitality and events taught me how to read a room, keep things on track and make people feel at ease. I'll keep the mood light and the day flowing, and be ready for the moments that matter most.
Yes, I have public liability insurance.

Raw files are the large, unedited files straight from the camera. They're the ingredients, not the finished dish. Editing is a big part of my style, so every image you receive has been carefully edited by me and is ready to print, share and keep. For that reason, raw files aren't included.
Absolutely. I'm a keen photographer myself, so I'd never discourage anyone from capturing the day. I do ask that guests stay out of the aisle and the key moments, so nothing gets between me and the shots you've booked me for, and that portrait time is kept to just us. Your guests are there to celebrate with you, so I'll take care of the photos while they enjoy the day.
I shoot with Canon and always carry two camera bodies on the day, so I can move between lenses quickly and never miss a moment. I work with a mix of prime and wide-angle lenses, and my favourite is the 50mm, perfect for natural, flattering portraits. I also bring at least two film cameras to every wedding for a different perspective and that timeless, analogue feel.
Backing up images is a crucial part of the process of shooting a wedding or any event. All photographers will tell you they’ve had a catastrophic hardware issue at least once, so I have invested in top of the range technology to minimise potential risk. We can’t ever 100% guarantee, but rest assured my images are backed up, on back ups, upon back ups, upon back ups!

Lucy is a magnificent photographer. Not only because her photos are incredibly natural, thoughtful, and beautiful. But because she is so inconspicuous, relaxed, and creative
